Ashland University's football team earned its first win of 2018 on Saturday (Sept. 15) night at Wayne State, and the Eagles now have their first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekly award of 2018, as well.

As announced by the GLIAC on Monday (Sept. 17) morning, sophomore kicker Satchel Denton is the conference's Week 3 Special Teams Player of the Week. In the Eagles' 30-21 win at the Warriors, Denton was 3-for-3 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points. All three field goals came in the second half, from 32, 28 and 19 yards.

Denton is 5-for-5 on field goals and 7-for-7 on extra points this season, and remains one of only two GLIAC kickers to make all placements in 2018.

In three of the last four seasons, an Eagle kicker has earned a GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week award. Former AU kicker Aidan Simenc received the honor on Oct. 12, 2015 and Oct. 30, 2017.

Ashland (1-2 overall, 1-0 GLIAC) will play host to its 95th Homecoming football game, Saturday (Sept. 22) at 1 p.m. at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field vs. Northwood (0-3, 0-1).
