Three Ashland University football players have earned spots on the recently-released 2018 Don Hansen All-Super Region Three Team.

Senior defensive end James Prater Jr. is a super region first-team selection. The honor is just the latest this offseason for Prater Jr., who this past fall, was second in the GLIAC in sacks (9½) and tied for third in tackles for loss (15), and tied for 10th in NCAA Division II at 0.95 sacks per game. He finished runner-up on Ashland's defense with 65 total tackles (27 solo), and also broke up four passes.

Prater Jr. is a three-time 2018 second-team All-America, earning honors from the Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and D2Football.com. Earlier this offseason, he garnered first-team Super Region 3, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year and first-team All-GLIAC honors. He also finished fifth in the finals of the vote for the Gene Upshaw Award, the Division II Senior Lineman of the Year, and was a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award, presented to the nation's top small college defensive player.

Senior tailback Andrew Vaughn and sophomore kicker Satchel Denton each landed third-team all-super region laurels. Vaughn, a 2018 GLIAC first-teamer, rushed for 806 yards and six touchdowns, and caught 22 passes for 156 yards and a score. Denton, who was a 2018 GLIAC second-team selection, was 30-for-30 on extra points and 13-of-15 on field goals.

As a team last season, the Eagles finished 6-4 overall and 6-2 in the GLIAC. All four of AU's losses were to Top 25 teams by a total of 21 points.
