Ashland University senior defensive end James Prater Jr. has earned yet another postseason honor, as he was named to the second team of the 2018 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team.

Prater Jr. was one of the top defensive linemen in Division II last season. He was second in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in sacks (9½) and tied for third in tackles for loss (15), and was tied for 10th in D-II at 0.95 sacks per game. He finished runner-up on Ashland's defense with 65 total tackles (27 solo), and also broke up four passes.

This is just the latest 2018 honor for Prater Jr., who is a four-time 2018 second-team All-America, also earning honors from the Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and D2Football.com. Earlier this offseason, he garnered first-team Super Region 3, first-team Don Hansen super region, GLIAC Defensive Lineman of the Year and first-team All-GLIAC honors. He also finished fifth in the finals of the vote for the Gene Upshaw Award, the Division II Senior Lineman of the Year, and was a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award, presented to the nation's top small college defensive player.
