The 2019 Ashland University football schedule is complete following the addition of a familiar foe for an 11th game.
In Week 10, the Eagles will travel approximately 90 minutes to take on former conference rival Findlay on Nov. 9 at noon. That will be a resumption of a rivalry which began in 1924, and ended after 2016 when the Oilers left the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
All-time in the series, Ashland leads Findlay with a 28-15-4 record. The Eagles have played the Oilers more than any other foe on the gridiron (47 games), and have beaten the Oilers more than another rival since Ashland football began in 1920.
After 2019, the Ashland-Findlay rivalry will resume again in 2021 and 2022 in Week 2 of those respective seasons, with the 2021 game being played at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field.
With the addition of Findlay, Ashland's 2019 11-game schedule features teams with a combined 2018 record of 73-52 (.584). Six of the upcoming season's opponents had winning records last fall, and three – Ferris State, Grand Valley State and Indianapolis – played in the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Bulldogs were the 2018 D-II national runner-up.
