Coty Burton is in his second season as Ashland University's cornerbacks coach following the 2017 campaign as a graduate assistant, working with the Eagle wide receivers.

Burton spent two seasons as Kent State's defensive graduate assistant. He worked with all aspects of the defense, with an emphasis on defensive backs. Burton primarily worked with the nickel position, where he coached Najee Murray to a first-team All-Mid-American Conference selection in 2016.

Prior to Kent State, Burton served as a quality control coach at Coastal Carolina, concentrating on defensive backs. While at Coastal Carolina, he helped coach Denzel Rice to a second-team All-Big South selection in 2014.

Burton also has worked for the National Football League's Cleveland Browns scouting department as a personnel game charter.

Prior to coaching, Burton was a running back at AU from 2010-14. He also was a student assistant in the spring of 2014.

Burton went to Clinton-Massie High School in Clarksville, Ohio. His wife is Chelsea Burton.
