Doug Geiser is in his 16th season at Ashland. His time with AU head coach Lee Owens dates back to the University of Akron. He is the only coach on the AU staff to be with Owens throughout his Ashland tenure.

With the Eagles, Geiser has consistently put together outstanding offensive lines. Since coming to Ashland, he has coached seven All-Americans - Blake Dickson, Vince Cashdollar, Reggie Gamble, Justin Magruder, Zachary Douglass, Dominic Giunta and John Conner.

Under Geiser, AU has had four offensive linemen play in the Cactus Bowl. The latest lineman to make that trip was Magruder in 2011. In addition, 29 of Geiser's Eagle O-linemen have been selected as All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference performers, including 12 first-teamers. In 2017, senior center Dominic Giunta earned GLIAC Offensive Lineman of the Year honors.

Geiser also serves as AU's running game coordinator. Since Geiser came to Ashland, a running back has surpassed 1,000 yards rushing in a season nine times, the program's all-time rushing yards record has been broken, the program record for rushing yards in a season has been broken three times and the AU mark for single-game rushing yards has been broken twice. In 2012, the Eagles ranked 19th in the nation in rushing offense.

In addition to his work with the line, Geiser is the program's strength and conditioning coordinator. The AU assistant coach is a proven recruiter. Since coming to Ashland he's been the Eagles' primary recruiter in Stark County and the Columbus, Ohio, area.

Geiser coached at Akron for nine years, where he was tight ends coach and video coordinator. Before that, he coached on the high school level. His background includes a stop at Lyndhurst Brush (1992-94), where he was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Geiser also coached at Liberty Benton (1991) and his alma mater, Triway (1990).

Geiser was honored by the Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation as the 2006-07 assistant coach of the year. During the summers, Geiser is in high demand as a camp instructor. The AU assistant coach has been a regular at the University of Michigan football camp and has been a guest offensive line coach for the Canadian Football League's Hamilton Tiger-Cats' camps during training camp (2004-06). He was a guest coach of the CFL's British Columbia Lions in training camp in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2013.

The AU assistant coach is a 1992 graduate of Cornell. He was a center for the Big Red and earned his bachelor's degree in government.

Geiser and his wife, Amy, are the parents of twin girls, Abigail and Rebecca. The girls will turn 19 years old in December.
