Davis Wins Eighth Career GLIAC South Player of the Week Award

Fifth-year senior forward Wendell Davis was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (Nov. 13) afternoon.

It is the eighth time Davis has won the weekly award and his first since taking the honor on Feb. 26, 2016.

Davis, who missed all of last season with an injury, did not miss a beat in his return to the court for the Eagles. He averaged 28 points, five rebounds and four assists in a pair of AU victories last week, while shooting 59.5 percent (22-for-37) from the floor. He also connected on 5-of-11 3-pointers (45.5 percent). 

In the season opener against Lake Erie, Davis scored 27 points on 11-for-20 shooting to go with six assists. He added 29 points in a win at Ohio Dominican on Sunday, shooting 11-for-17 from the field and collecting seven rebounds.

Davis led the Eagles in scoring, rebounding and assists in 2015-16 when he helped the squad to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 25 years. 

The Eagles will return to the floor on Wednesday (Nov. 15) at 7 p.m. when they travel to California (Pa.) for an in-region, nonconference game.
