Davis Lands Second Straight GLIAC Weekly Honor

For the second time this season and the ninth time in his career, Ashland University senior forward Wendell Davis has been named the GLIAC South Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (Nov. 20) afternoon.

The 6-foot-6 forward scored a career-high 37 points, leading the Eagles (3-0) to their third straight win to start the season– a 97-87 triumph over host California (Pa.) last Wednesday (Nov. 15). Davis also added 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season to go along with five assists. He also shot 13-for-17 from the field and 5-of-7 from the 3-point line.

Davis is among the nation's leaders in scoring this season, averaging 31 points per game. He is averaging seven rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 65 percent from the field and 56 percent from 3-point range.

Davis, who missed last season with an injury, was named a Preseason All-American by Street & Smith's and The Basketball Times. He climbed to 11th on AU's all-time scoring list with 1,424 career points.

The Eagles return to the court on Tuesday and Wednesday (Nov. 21-22) for the AU Thanksgiving Classic, presented by Hampton Inn & Suites. The Eagles play Indianapolis at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Kentucky State at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Kates Gymnasium.
