Davis Wins 10th Career GLIAC Player of the Week Award

Ashland University fifth-year senior forward Wendell Davis was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (Dec. 11). 

It is the third time this season and 10th time in his career Davis has won a GLIAC weekly honor.

He averaged 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game to help lead the Eagles to a pair of home wins over Wayne State and Davenport, which both entered the week without a conference loss.

Davis scored eight points, collected six boards and dished out two assists in a 70-48 win over Wayne State on Thursday. On Saturday, Davis posted a double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals. For the week, he shot 56 percent (9-for-16) from the field and 43 percent (3-for-7) from 3-point range.

Davis ranks second in the GLIAC in scoring (21.7), seventh in rebounds (6.7), third in assists (4.0), sixth in field goal percentage (.551) and second in 3-point percentage (.492).

The consensus Preseason All-American also climbed into seventh on AU's all-time scoring list and now has 1,548 career points.
