Davis Wins 15th, Final GLIAC South Player of the Week

Ashland University redshirt-senior forward Wendell Davis was named the GLIAC South Player of the Week for the eighth time in 14 weeks and for the 15th time in his career the league office announced on Monday (Feb. 26) morning. 

Davis averaged 28 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, one block and one steal in last week's sweep of Saginaw Valley State and Northwood at Kates Gymnasium. The wins helped the Eagles secure the No. 4 seed and a first-round home games in the GLIAC Tournament this week.

He scored 23 points to go with five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in an 82-64 win over Saginaw Valley State last Thursday.

In Saturday's 81-57 triumph over Northwood on Saturday, Davis scored 33 points on 13-for-18 shooting and dished out three assists. He also shot 5-for-7 from 3-point range. His 13 field goals matched a career high. Davis has now scored 30-plus points three times this season and seven times in his career.

Davis ranks in the top 10 in the GLIAC in scoring (20.9), rebounding (6.1), assists (3.5), field goal percentage (54.0), 3-point percentage (46.2), free throw percentage (79.6), 3-pointers made (79) and minutes (981).
