Three Ashland University men's basketball players were selected to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams it was announced at the pre-tournament banquet on Friday (March 2) night, the eve of the GLIAC Tournament, in Big Rapids, Mich.
Senior forward Wendell Davis became the first player in program history to be named to the All-GLIAC first team three times in his career. Redshirt-junior guard Ben Haraway was selected to the second team along with sophomore center Drew Noble, who also won GLIAC All-Defensive team honors.
Davis is putting together a historic campaign in his final season as an Eagle. He ranks in the top 10 in the GLIAC in seven categories. Davis is second in the GLIAC in scoring (20.6), first in 3-pointers made (81), fourth in assists (3.6), 10th in rebounding (6.1), sixth in free throw percentage (80.1), fourth in 3-point percentage (45.0) and second in minutes (1,026).
A preseason All-American, Davis is a two-time all-region performer. In his career, he has scored 1,927 points to rank second on Ashland's all-time list. He also ranks third in career rebounding with 768. Davis is four assists shy of 300 in his career.
Haraway is averaging 12.8 points per game for the Eagles, ranking third on the team in scoring. He also has 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 41 percent from 3-point range. The league leader in minutes, Haraway has committed just 44 turnovers from his guard position.
Noble has developed into one of the top post players in the GLIAC as a sophomore, averaging 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding and blocked shots (1.1 per game). The 6-foot-8 Louisville, Ohio native has also expanded his game beyond the arc, hitting 24 3-pointers this season.
The Eagles (20-9) are looking to capture their first-ever GLIAC Tournament championship this weekend. After beating Northern Michigan in overtime on Wednesday, the postseason trek continues on Saturday at 3 p.m. at No. 2 Ferris State in the semifinals.
