Eagles Debut In National Coaches' Poll at No. 19

The Ashland University men's basketball team made its season debut in the NABC Division II Coaches' Poll this week as the Eagles were ranked No. 19 in the poll release on Tuesday (Dec. 4) afternoon.

It is the first time the Eagles have been included in the coaches' poll since the end of the 2015-16 campaign when they were ranked 12th nationally.

The Eagles (6-0, 2-0 GLIAC) remained undefeated on the season last week with conference wins over Lake Superior State and defending national champion Ferris State.

Ashland's 6-0 start is its best since that 2015-16 season when the Eagles advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1991.

Earlier this week, redshirt-sophomore guard Aaron Thompson was named the GLIAC South Player of the Week for his performances against the Lakers and Bulldogs.

The Eagles lead the GLIAC in scoring margin, field goal percentage, free throw percentage and rebounding margin.

Ashland, in its 10th season under head coach John Ellenwood, will go on the road this week to play Grand Valley State and Davenport in GLIAC play. Tip-off on Thursday against GVSU is scheduled for 8 p.m.
