Undefeated Ashland Men Up To No. 6 in National Coaches' Poll

The Ashland University men's basketball team climbed four spots to No. 6 in the NABC Division II coaches' poll released on Tuesday (Jan. 8) afternoon.

It is the highest ranking for the Eagles since they were No. 3 on Feb. 18, 1991 – the same season they started with a 15-0 record.

This year, the Eagles are off to the second-best start in program history with 13 straight wins, including a 6-0 mark in GLIAC play.

Ashland is coming off a pair of home victories over Upper Peninsula schools, Michigan Tech (67-44) and Northern Michigan (67-60). The Eagles set their program mark for fewest points allowed in a GLIAC game against Michigan Tech on Thursday. AU came back from six points down with under seven minutes to play to beat the Wildcats on Saturday.

The Eagles are the only GLIAC team ranked in the Top 25, while Davenport (11-2) is receiving votes in the poll.

Ashland will look to extend its winning streak on Thursday (Jan. 10) at 8:30 p.m. ET with a matchup against GLIAC newcomer Parkside in Kenosha, Wis.
