The Ashland University men's basketball team jumped two spots in the NABC Division II coaches' poll to No. 18 in the latest release on Tuesday (Feb. 19) afternoon.
The Eagles (21-4, 13-4 GLIAC) won a pair of games last week over visiting Purdue Northwest, 84-56, and Parkside, 68-64, to reach the 20-win plateau for the 15th time in program history. It is the first time since the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons the Eagles have won 20 games in back-to-back seasons.
Ashland has been ranked in each of the last 10 national coaches' polls, rising as high as No. 6 on Jan. 8.
The Eagles are joined by Davenport at No. 16 as the two GLIAC schools listed in the poll. The loaded Midwest Region also features Findlay (No. 8), Bellarmine (No. 9) and Lewis (No. 24) in the poll.
Ashland, under 10th-year head coach John Ellenwood, has had four different players win GLIAC South Player of the Week honors, including junior center Drew Noble, who won the award on Monday.
The Eagles look to continue to add to their resume this week with a road trip to Northwood (Thursday, 8 p.m.) and Saginaw Valley (Saturday, 3 p.m.).
