Noble Wins Second GLIAC South Player of the Week

Ashland University junior center Drew Noble was named the GLIAC South Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday (March 4) afternoon.

It is the second time Noble has won the award in the last three weeks as one of four Eagles to claim the honor this season after himself (Feb. 18), senior guard Ben Haraway (Jan. 21), junior guard Rodrick Caldwell (Dec. 10) and redshirt-sophomore guard Aaron Thompson (Dec. 3).

Noble scored 18 points and collected a season-high 14 rebounds in the Eagles' 70-63 win over Wayne State last Thursday to close out the regular season. He also blocked three shots in the game, adding one assist and one steal.

He nearly had a double-double in the second half alone with 10 points and nine boards. He was 9-for-21 shooting overall.

Noble, who was earlier named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District team, is sixth in the GLIAC in scoring (17.4) and is fourth in blocks (33), third in field goals made (177) and fourth in free throws made (113).

The Eagles are the No. 2 seed in the GLIAC Tournament and will play host to No. 7 seed Grand Valley State on Tuesday (March 5) at 7:30 p.m. at Kates Gymnasium in the quarterfinal.
