Men's Basketball Climbs To No. 21 In National Poll

The Ashland University men's basketball team climbed two spots this week to No. 21 in the latest release of the NABC Division II coaches' poll which came out Tuesday (March 5) afternoon.

The Eagles (23-5), the No. 2 seed in the GLIAC Tournament, are set to play No. 7-seed Grand Valley State in the quarterfinal at Kates Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Ashland is coming off a 70-63 win over visiting Wayne State in the regular season finale last Thursday. The game had a margin of three points or less for more than 28 minutes before the Eagles closed it out in the final stretch.

The Eagles have been ranked in 12 straight coaches' polls this season.

The Midwest Region has four other teams ranked in the top 25, including Findlay (No. 6), Davenport (No. 8), Bellarmine (No. 11) and Lewis (No. 15).

The Eagles were ranked No. 5 in the second release of the NCAA Division II Midwest Region rankings. The third and final release is set for Wednesday afternoon with the NCAA Tournament field announced Sunday night at 10:30 p.m.
