Ashland University junior center Drew Noble was selected to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region second team it was announced on Friday (March 15) afternoon – the eve of the NCAA Tournament.
Noble is just the fifth player in program history to be named to an all-region team by the sports information directors association, and he is the third under head coach John Ellenwood. Former players Evan Yates (2012, 2013) and Wendell Davis (2015, 2016, 2018) also earned that distinction.
He currently ranks sixth in the GLIAC in scoring at 17.1 points per game as he has helped the Eagles reach the NCAA Tournament for just the second time since 1991. Noble also averages 6.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 50.4 percent (181-for-359) from the floor.
He also connects at a 35 percent (21-for-60) from the line and 80.9 percent (114-for-141) from the free throw line as one of the most efficient offensive players in the region. The Louisville, Ohio native has been the focal point of Ashland's offense, and has shown ability to both pass out of double teams and score through them.
He averages 31.6 minutes per game and ranks sixth in the league in blocks per game (1.1).
Noble is a two-time All-GLIAC selection, earning first team honors this year for the first time. He has scored 1,035 points in his career, surpassing in the 1,000-point mark at Saginaw Valley on Feb. 23.
Noble has scored in double figures 26 times and reached the 20-point mark in nine games. He set a career high with 33 points in a win over defending national champion Ferris State on Dec. 1 at Kates Gymnasium.
The Eagles (23-6), seeded No. 5 the Midwest Region, begin the 12th NCAA Tournament in program history on Saturday (March 16) night at 8:30 p.m. ET against Southern Indiana in Romeoville, Ill.
