Eagles Jump To No. 15 In National Coaches' Poll

The Ashland University men's basketball team climbed to No. 15 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II poll released on Tuesday (Nov. 19) afternoon.

The Eagles, ranked No. 19 in the preseason, were off last week, but opened the season with a pair of in-region wins.

Ashland led wire-to-wire with a dominant defensive performance in a 73-55 win over Lake Erie in the season opener on Nov. 8. The Eagles followed it up with an 85-82 win at Ohio Dominican on Nov. 10, overcoming a 16-point deficit in the first half.

The Eagles have already had nine players score at least 10 points in a game and are led by senior center Drew Noble, who is averaging 19 points, 6.5 rebounds and four assists per game while shooting 61 percent from the floor.

Redshirt-junior wing Aaron Thompson is averaging a double-double at 17 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Ferris State moved into the poll this week at No. 19 as the only other GLIAC school in the nation's top 25.

The Eagles return to the court tonight at 7:30 p.m. to take on Ohio-Chillicothe at Kates Gymnasium. AU will play Alderson Broaddus on Sunday at 2 p.m.
