Men's Golf Opens NCAA Regional Play In Missouri

            The Ashland University men's golf team finished the first day of the NCAA Division II regional golf championships tied for 15th place in a field of 20 teams. The regional opened on Monday (May 7) at the Jefferson City Country Club in Jefferson, Mo.

            Ashland shares 15th place with Tiffin. The Eagles and the Dragons both shot 306 (+18).  Central Missouri is in first place (286/-2) and Northern Kentucky (292/+4) is in second place.  Bellarmine, Indianapolis and Grand Valley State are in third place.  Each of those teams finished the first 18 holes at 296 (+8).

            Juniors Mark Scott Jr. (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) and Brendan Jenkins (Dublin, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) both shot 76 (+4) and are tied for 46th place.

            This tournament runs through Wednesday (May 9). The second round will be played on Tuesday (May 8).
