Men's Golf Team Opens In Fifth Place At GLIAC Event

The Ashland University men's golf team is in fifth place after the opening round of the GLIAC Championships.

This year's tournament opened with one round on Saturday (Oct. 5). The Eagles had a team score of 301.  Malone is the first day leader at 293. Ohio Dominican (296) is second and Grand Valley State (299) is third. GVSU is the defending champion.

Saginaw Valley State (300) is in fourth place, followed by AU and Findlay.

Ashland's top score was turned in by Eric Dowiatt. He shot 74 (+2). Marc Matteson is tied for 17th at 75 (+3).

Saginaw Valley State's Wyatt Drost is the first day leader. He shot 70 (-2).

This year's tournament is being played in Bath, Mich. The tournament runs through Monday.
