Men's Golf Ties For Ninth At Purgatory

The Ashland University men's golf team finished in a tie for ninth place on Monday (Apr. 14) at the Purgatory Regional in Noblesville, Ind. This is one of the in-season NCAA regional events.

AU shot 317 on Monday. The Eagles got off to a great start on Sunday, shooting 296. Monday was a challenge for all the teams in the field as they were greeted with wind and steady rain.

Ashland's final team score was 613. Wayne State won the championship with a team score of 596. Grand Valley State (598) was two strokes back in second place and Missouri-St. Louis (601) was third.

AU's best finish came from Jake Houston. He shot 153 and tied for 34th. Nick Blackburn carded a score of 154 and tied for 43rd. Ryan Hassman shot 155 and tied for 55th.

UMSL's Warren Crow was the medalist. He shot 144.
