Men's Golf Finishes 18th In 31-Team Great Lakes Regional

The Ashland University men's golf team capped off the second day of the Great Lakes regional tournament with an 18th-place finish out of a field of 31 teams.

The Eagles carded a 307 on the second day (April 13) at the Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. AU shot a 302 on Sunday (April 12), giving it a grand total of 609, tying Bellarmine for 18th place.

The University of Indianapolis won the tournament shooting a 583. Grand Valley State University finished second with a 585.

AU senior Jake Houston fired off a 73 on Monday, giving him the Eagles' lowest round on the weekend. Houston shot a 75 in the first round, earning him a 21st-place finish. Junior Austin Schreiber finished the tournament with a 150, good for 42nd place.

Rounding out the field for the Eagles were junior Brandon Nixon (153), freshman Chandler Walnsch (159) and senior Nick Adkins (166).

Ashland now will gear up for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Invitational Saturday (April 18) and Sunday (April 19) in Nashport, Ohio.
