Eagle Men Stay Put At Eighth To Finish Tiffin Tourney

The Ashland University men's golf team began Day 2 of the Kyle Ryman Memorial at Tiffin in eighth place after shooting 20-over par in the two rounds on Day 1. And despite tying with sixth-place Hillsdale for the low final round of 294, the Eagles finished the tournament in eighth place out of 14 teams, 25 strokes back of first-place Ferris State. 

AU sophomore Austin Kondratick had the team's low score of the tournament at 2-over par, which placed him tied for 12th of 99 golfers. He's finished with the low score for the Eagles in each of their first three tournaments.

Freshman Luke Dorman, competing as an individual, had Ashland's second-lowest total score in the tournament at 6-over par, tying for 24th.

Redshirt junior captain Gabriel Reynolds tied for 27th, shooting a total score of 223.

Freshman Patrick Steffen finished one stroke higher than Reynolds, tying for 31st. His brother, redshirt sophomore Frank Steffen, shot 15-over par to place tied for 55th.

Junior captain Chandler Walnsch rounded out the starters, shooting 18-over par and tying for 73rd. 

The other two AU gofers competing as individuals, senior Jeremy Hanna and redshirt sophomore Tyler Starr, completed the tournament with totals of 242 and 238, respectively. 

UP NEXT: The Eagles will head north to Detroit, Mich., to compete in the Wayne State Tournament on Oct. 16 and 17.
