Eagles In 12th After Day 1 At GLIAC South Invite

After Day 1 of 2 at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Invitational in Lexington, Ky., the Ashland University men's golf team is in 12th place. 

The Eagles shot a 28-over-par 316 on Monday (March 27) to put themselves five strokes behind 11th-place Walsh and 30 strokes behind first-place Saginaw Valley State.

Junior Chandler Walnsch is tied for 32nd of the 71 golfers, leading AU at four-over 76. At five-over 77, sophomore Austin Kondratick is tied for 39th.

The rest of the Eagles sit in 54th place or lower. Sophomore Ethan Blough, competing as an individual, and junior Gabriel Reynolds, have 79s. Sophomore Frank Steffen shot an 84 on Day 1, and sophomore Cole Smith shot an 88.

UP NEXT: Ashland gets back out on the course at the Andover Country Club on Tuesday (March 28) for the final round of the invitational.
