Following the third and final day of the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday (April 22) at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, Ashland University junior Austin Kondratick tied for third individually, and the Eagles ended tied for fourth as a team.

Kondratick shot a 3-over-par 75 on Sunday to end the tournament at 4-over 74-71-75—220. Included in his 54-hole total were six birdies, three on Sunday (holes No. 6, 13 and 15). Kondratick is the highest-finishing Eagle at the GLIAC Championships since Brendan Jenkins finished tied for third in the fall of 2012 (Danny Evans was tied for second in 2007, and Ryan Scott was second in 2001).

Kondratick was three shots behind both Grand Valley State's Alex Scott and Ferris State's Andrew Hammett (Hammett won in a playoff).

The Eagles' team finish was their best since the fall of 2013, when they placed in a tie for second. Ashland concluded the weekend at 302-307-305—914, the team's best score at GLIACs since the fall of 2014 (904).

Senior Chandler Walnsch placed in a tie for 14th individually following an even-par round of 72 on Sunday (77-79-72—228). Like Kondratick, Walnsch finished the tournament with a half-dozen birdies.

Freshman Ben Jones (77-78-78—233) and sophomore Patrick Steffen (74-79-80—233) both tied for 27th, while junior Cole Smith was 45th (78-84-84—246).

Grand Valley State won the team title at 303-291-290—884, followed by Wayne State (312-300-285—897) and Tiffin (310-297-301—908).
