Ashland University men's golfers Austin Kondratick and Chandler Walnsch each were announced as 2018 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars in NCAA Division II by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday (July 25) afternoon.
Kondratick, a junior, sported an average round of 73.6 during 2017-18, finishing first (68-75—143) at the Ohio Valley Spring Championship in late March. His cumulative grade-point average through the 2018 spring semester is 3.48.
Walsnch, a senior, averaged a round of 76.7 last season, and was runner-up at both the OVU Spring Championship (74-72—146) and the Ohio Dominican Bill Blazer Memorial (77-75—152) in mid-April. He graduated Cum Laude in May with a cumulative GPA of 3.69.
Walnsch becomes the third AU men's golfer to earn the award twice, along with Matthew Marino (2002-03) and Austin Schreiber (2015-16).
This is the fourth consecutive year the AU men have had at least one All-America Scholar, and the fourth time the program has had two in the same academic year (2002, 2003 and 2009).
