Ben Jones had a successful freshman season for Ashland University's men's golf team in 2017-18.

Jones is serving notice this summer that 2018-19 is shaping up to be even better.

At the 2018 Davey Tree/Minute Men Ohio Open Championship, Jones finished in a tie for Low Amateur with a three-day total of 69-72-71—212. His 4-under-par finish placed him in a tie for ninth overall on the full leaderboard.

The tournament was played in Medina, Ohio, at Weymouth Country Club and Fox Meadow Country Club.

Jones' rookie collegiate season was highlighted by a medalist finish (70-75—145) at the Ohio Dominican Bill Blazer Memorial in April. He placed third (71-76—147) at the Ohio Valley University Spring Championship in March, and in 20 rounds in 2017-18, Jones' season average was 75.8.
