There was no change from Day 1 to Day 2 for Ashland University's men's golf team, as the Eagles' final team score of 305-305—610 resulted in an 18th-place finish at the 22-team Findlay Spring Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
Playing the second 18 holes on Tuesday (March 26), senior Austin Kondratick finished as Ashland low scorer on the tournament at 74-75—149, good for a tie for 30th place individually. Kondratick had two birdies on Tuesday, and five for the Invite.
Sophomore Ben Jones was next, going 76-75—151 and finishing in a tie for 41st. On Tuesday, Jones had four birdies, including three in a five-hole stretch on the front nine, to end with seven birds for the tourney.
Junior Patrick Steffen ended in a tie for 52nd at 75-77—152, and had five birdies in Kentucky. Redshirt freshman Luke Tanner tied for 99th at 80-78—158, while senior Cole Smith was tied for 104th at 81-78—159.
Taking the team title was Grand Valley State (286-288—574), with a slim one-shot advantage over Trevecca Nazarene (286-289—575). Indianapolis was a close third at 281-295—576.
Mitchell White of Grand Valley State was individual medalist at 69-70—139.
The Eagle men will begin April with a trip to Nashville, Tenn., for the Trevecca Nazarene Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (April 1-2).
