Ashland Men Place 10th At Underwood Invite

The third and final round of Grand Valley State's Don Underwood Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 10) saw Ashland University's men's golf team finish 10th in the 12-team field.

Ending at 307-294-305—906, the Eagles were 54-over-par for the tournament. Findlay was the team titlist at 288-288-288—864, followed by Wayne State (286-294-289—869) and the host Lakers (295-289-295—879).

Ashland's top individual finisher was junior Ben Jones, who placed in a tie for ninth at 72-72-74—218. In his first collegiate event, freshman Andrew Kolar got better as the tournament progressed, and was tied for 21st at 78-74-71—223.

Senior Patrick Steffen tied for 47th (79-73-80—232), sophomore Luke Tanner tied for 49th (78-75-80—233), and freshman Caden Gallagher was 68th (79-78-87—244).

GVSU's Charles Delong (69-72-69—210) earned individual medalist honors.

Ashland's men will return to the links on Sept. 23-24 at Findlay's Second Annual Doc Spragg Fall Invitational.
