AU Men End Findlay Invite Day 1 In Seventh Place

On Monday (Sept. 23), following the first 36 holes of Findlay's Doc Spragg Fall Invitational at Findlay Country Club, Ashland University's men's golf team landed in seventh place in the 18-team tournament.

Led by junior Ben Jones, the Eagles finished Day 1 at 296-299—595. Jones is tied for eighth individually following Monday's action, carding 73-70—143. His day included 10 birdies – five in each round.

Freshman Andrew Kolar is in a tie for 26th place at 72-77—149, and included in his total was six birdies. Right behind is sophomore Luke Tanner, who is in a tie for 34th place at 76-74—150, including five birdies.

Senior Patrick Steffen is tied for 52nd (75-78—153, six birdies), while sophomore Brent Dillon is 89th (81-85—166).

The Eagles are 21 strokes behind first-place Findlay (288-286—574). Wayne State is in second place (281-297—578), and Bellarmine is in third (290-295—585).

Wayne State's Brendan Seys is the individual leader through 36 holes at 69-69—138.

Ashland's men will play the final 18 holes of the Doc Spragg Fall Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 24).
