AU Men Finish Motor City Invite In Eighth Place

Finishing play with the second round of Wayne State's Motor City Invite on Monday (Oct. 14), Ashland University's men's golf team ended the event in eighth place in the 16-team field.

Junior Ben Jones collected his third top-10 individual placement of the fall, tying for ninth place at 77-74—151. On Monday, Jones had four birdies, on holes No 3, 5, 10 and 14.

Freshman Andrew Kolar tied for 24th place, carding 75-79—154, and birdying No. 3 on Monday. Senior Patrick Steffen ended at 82-78—160 and in a tie for 40th place, and had three Monday birds on No. 6, 16 and 17.

Sophomore Luke Tanner tied for 51st (88-76—164, Monday birdies on No. 10, 11 and 16), while freshman Jake Amann was 77th (86-89—175, Monday birdies on No. 9 and 16).

Freshman Logan Thomas played as an individual, and tied for 74th (89-84—173, Monday birdie on No. 3).

As a team, the Eagles ended 320-307—627. The host Warriors won (294-297—591), followed by Findlay (305-298—603) and Northwood (311-297—608).

The individual medalist was Northwood's Cameron Lippoldt (67-75—142).

Ashland's men's golf team will conclude the fall non-championship season at Davenport's Panther Invitational on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 19-20).
