Ashland University's men's golf team has plenty to build upon going into the 2020 spring championship season, as the Eagles finished the 2019 fall non-championship campaign with a win at Davenport's Panther Invitational on Sunday (Oct. 20).

Pacing the entire 11-team field, Ashland's team score of 273-288—561 was three shots better than Grand Valley State (283-281—564), and nine strokes lower than Wayne State (280-290—570).

"I'm really proud of these young men, bouncing back from a tough fall and closing the season with a win," said Ashland head coach Dennis North. "It's great to put five scores together two days in a row."

Four Eagles concluded the final fall tournament in the top eight individually, led by junior Ben Jones and freshman Andrew Kolar, who each placed in a tie for third. Jones carded 67-72—139 for his fourth top-10 placement in five fall events, while Kolar was 66-73—139 for the best finish of his young collegiate career.

Senior Patrick Steffen tied for fifth at 70-71—141 for the best finish of his AU career, and freshman Jake Amann, in just his third and fourth collegiate rounds, placed eighth at 70-72—142.

Sophomore Luke Tanner tied for 54th at 80-80—160, while freshman Caden Gallagher, playing as an individual, tied for 46th at 75-81—156.
