Clark's Goals Lead Eagles to 3-0 Win

ASHLAND, Ohio – Freshman forward Louis Clark (Brighton, England/Hove Park) scored twice and assisted on Ashland's other goal in a 3-0 win at Saginaw Valley State on Sunday (Oct. 17) afternoon.

It was the Eagles' road finale and the win extended their regular season GLIAC unbeaten streak to 20 games.

Freshman forward Louis Clark (Brighton, England/Hove Park) opened the scoring in the 14th minute on an assist from sophomore defender Jamie Dollar (Perrysburg, Ohio).

Senior midfielder Adam Spannbauer (Akron, Ohio/Firestone) made it 2-0 in the 31st minute on an assist from Clark. It was Spannbauer's 20th career goal, which ranks him ninth in AU history.

In the 34th minute, Clark chimed in with his second goal, this one assisted by Spannbauer.

Clark is now the league leader in goals (11) and points per game (0.85). His 11 goals are tied for the fifth-highest total in AU history for a single season.

The Eagles (9-3-2, 7-0-2 GLIAC) out-shot the Cardinals (8-5-2, 4-4-2 GLIAC), 14-7, and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore keepers Justin Nolan (Medina, Ohio/Highland) and Kurt Innes (Vermilion, Ohio) combined on AU's sixth clean sheet of the season, combining for three saves.

Ashland finishes the regular season with four straight home games beginning Friday (Oct. 22) evening at 4:30 p.m. against second-place Ohio Dominican (10-3-1, 7-1-1 GLIAC), which was ranked 24th nationally entering last week's play. The Eagles hold a one point lead on the Panthers in the GLIAC standings.
