Northern Michigan Defeats Visiting Eagles

The Ashland University men's soccer team kept host Northern Michigan off the board in the first half, but the Wildcats came away with a 3-0 win over the Eagles in GLIAC play on Sunday (Oct. 1) in Marquette, Mich. 

The Eagles (4-5, 0-5 GLIAC) matched the Wildcats (3-6-1, 1-5 GLIAC) in corner kicks in the first half, 4-4, but neither team was able to manage a goal from their set piece situations. 

The Wildcats broke through in the 53rd minute when David Feldmann received a pass from Sam Popp and scored his second goal of the season.

Northern Michigan doubled their lead in the 63rd minute on a Birkir Baldursson effort and scored their third goal seven minutes later.

Freshman keeper Dimitrius Karousos registered eight saves in the game and sophomore Jordan Dees recorded three shots.

The Eagles conclude a stretch of six road games out of seven with a contest at Tiffin on Wednesday (Oct. 4) at 4 p.m.
