Men's Soccer Earns 2018-19 Team Academic Award

The Ashland University men's soccer team won a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year.

A total of 990 soccer teams (344 men, 646 women) posted a team grade point average above 3.0 to earn the distinction. 

The Eagles tallied a 3.27 grade-point average last academic year. They are currently in their fourth season under head coach Oliver Slawson

It is the third time in program history the Eagles have earned the award, the other occasions coming in 2011-12 and 2016-17.

Last season, 10 players were named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence list, earning GPAs of 3.5 or higher, including Tomas Cordeiro, John Duldner, Fred Francis, Dimitrios Karousos, Jacob Koehler, Alex Lause, Justin Libertowski, Alexander Majors, Marshall Ney and Kieran Paterson.

Five players earned GLIAC All-Academic honors with GPAs of 3.0-3.49, including George Brown, Jordan Dees, Keegan Farver, Cameron Mendel and Jack Sarkisian.

The Eagles (3-6, 3-3 GLIAC) have won three of their last four games this season and will look to continue their form on Friday (Oct. 11) at 1 p.m. at Davenport.
