Robinson Named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

Ashland University redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Brett Robinson was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday (Oct. 29) afternoon.

Robinson made his first two collegiate starts last week and was excellent in keeping a pair of clean sheets as the Eagles beat Upper Iowa, 4-0, and drew Purdue Northwest, 0-0.

It is the second time this season the Eagles have won the award with sophomore Joseph Renner winning it on Oct. 14.

Robinson made five saves in the Eagles' win over the Peacocks as the hosts were able to possess for much of the game and take the game to Upper Iowa.

He was even more impressive against the Pride, making six saves to preserve the scoreless draw. Robinson tipped one shot over the bar in the first half and made a diving stop late in the second half to help send the game to extra time.

The Eagles (5-8-1, 5-5-1 GLIAC) secured their place in the GLIAC Tournament with the PNW tie and will now head to Parkside on Friday for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff against the league leader.
