Eagles Fall To Wildcats in Upper Peninsula

The Ashland University men's soccer team lost 2-0 on Sunday (Nov. 3) afternoon to host Northern Michigan in the penultimate game of the regular season in Marquette.

The Eagles (5-10-1, 5-7-1 GLIAC) are assured of the No. 6 seed in the GLIAC Tournament while the Wildcats (8-9, 7-6 GLIAC) pulled into a tie for fifth place. Last season, the Eagles ran through the conference tournament from the No. 6 seed and clinch an NCAA Tournament spot.

On Sunday, the Wildcats scored two in the second half as the Eagles kept them off the board until the 69th minute. Luca Lippert's goal at the 68:47 mark gave Northern Michigan the lead, and a goal by Keegan Goetz in the 87th minute provided the necessary insurance to close the game.

Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Brett Robinson made seven saves for the Eagles while Patrick Restum made one save for NMU.

The Eagles will look to regroup from their road trip as they play Davenport on Thursday (Nov. 7) at 1:30 p.m. at Ferguson Field in their final regular season game. The GLIAC Tournament will start on Monday (Nov. 11).
