It was the Ashland University men's tennis program's first home action in 23 years, and the Eagles' last competitive action until the championship season starts in February.
The Ashland Hidden Duals left a lasting positive impression, as the Eagle men earned two championships and two third-place finishes on Saturday (Oct. 13) at the Deborah Liebert Karl Tennis Complex.
"The men showed their tenacity and willingness to compete today," said Ashland assistant coach Christian Hamilton. "We are happy to end our fall season on a high note, with multiple championship and third-place wins this weekend. This will give us the extra motivation to keep working hard and continually improve in the practices.
"Our eyes are now set on competing tough in the spring season."
Freshman Stuart Brdicka won a pair of Hidden Dual championships on Saturday. In A Draw singles, Brdicka topped Walsh's Jakob Riglewski, 7-6 (7-0), 3-6, 10-2, and in A Draw doubles, he and fellow freshman Colten Clark stopped Walsh's Joao Campos and Alex Puigmarti, 6-2.
The Eagles' third-place showings were earned by freshmen Tche Kun Teng and Jordan Phelps in the A Draw doubles bracket (6-0), and senior Stanislaw Grzeslo and sophomore Nathan Sims in the B Draw doubles bracket (7-5).
Ashland wins on Saturday prior to the finals came from Brdicka/Clark in doubles (6-4), and freshman Shivam Patel in singles (7-6 (7-5), 0-6, 10-8).
