Brdicka Tabbed GLIAC Men's Tennis Player Of The Week

Ashland University freshman Stuart Brdicka was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday (Feb. 20) morning.

The honor is the first of Brdicka's young career.

Ashland went 3-0 as a team in their last three matches, and Brdicka was a major contributor to that.

Paired with freshman counterpart Jordan Phelps, Brdicka went 3-0 in doubles in that stretch, winning those matches 6-2, 6-3, and 6-3. He also went 3-0 in singles matches during that stretch as well. Brdicka didn't drop a set during the week, winning all matches in straight sets.

This is a continuation of his dominance so far since Ashland's return to men's tennis. Brdicka is yet to lose in the spring championship season in either doubles or singles. He also capped off the fall winning the doubles A draw with freshman Colten Clark, and the A draw singles championship, at the Hidden Duals hosted by the Eagles.

Brdicka has not lost a competitive match since Sept. 29.

Brdicka and the Eagles will aim to make it four wins in a row on Saturday (Feb. 23) at Ohio Wesleyan.
