Eagle Men Come Up Short Against Bulldogs

Ashland University's men's tennis team lost to Ferris State on Saturday (April 6), 5-2.

The Eagles fell to 2-3 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play following the loss. The match came on the heels of a GLIAC defeat at Grand Valley State less than 24 hours earlier.

The Bulldogs got a quick start in doubles play, sweeping all three matches. Down a point, the Eagles had to make up ground in singles, and only managed to win two matches.

Junior Priyank Soni was relentless at No. 1 singles, taking the win in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. The other win, also in straight sets, was senior Stanislaw Grzeslo. He was the winner of a 7-6, 6-4 match to pick up AU's second point.

The Eagles' match against the Bulldogs came at the end of a series of three matches in a row against the top three teams in the GLIAC.

AU will play next on Sunday (April 7), as the Eagles take on Northwood at home at 1 p.m.
