Ashland University's men's tennis team lost to Lake Superior State on Saturday (April 13) morning.
The Eagles (10-11 overall, 3-5 GLIAC) concluded regular-season Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with the 5-2 loss to the Lakers.
AU won one doubles match, and two singles matches. Senior Stanislaw Grzeslo and junior Priyank Soni were the victorious duo, 6-2 winners at No. 2 doubles.
Only the top two singles matches went in favor of Ashland. Soni won at No. 1 in a three-set thriller. He lost the first set 3-6, then got the next two in close sets, 7-6, 6-4. Freshman Stuart Brdicka also was a winner for Ashland at No. 2 singles. He won convincingly in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
The Eagles have two non-conference matches prior to the GLIAC Tournament, as they tune up for the postseason. Their next match will be on Wednesday (April 17) at West Liberty at 2 p.m.
