Ashland Men Cap Regular Season With Win At Cedarville

Ashland University's men's tennis team ended the regular season on a high note on Tuesday (April 23), winning 4-3 at Cedarville.

The Eagles (12-11) won all three doubles matches in the contest and won three singles matches to secure the win.

In No. 1 doubles, senior Stanislaw Grzeslo and junior Priyank Soni won 6-4. The freshman duo of Tche Kun Teng and Jordan Phelps handled their match, a quick 6-2 win. Freshman Colten Clark and sophomore Nathan Sims also won their doubles match 6-2.

In singles play, Soni, Phelps, and Grzeslo all won their matches, but it came down to Phelps to win the overall match for the Eagles.

With the score tied at 3, Phelps needed to win a three-set match at No. 3 singles. He dropped the first set 0-6, but came back to win the next two, 7-5, 6-4.

Soni won his No. 1 match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Grzeslo won his final regular-season match in two quick sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Next up for Ashland is the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The Eagles will play Ferris State in Midland, Mich., on Friday (April 26) at 6:45 p.m. in a GLIAC quarterfinal.
