Ashland Men Pile Up Wins On Day 2 At Oberlin

Ashland University's men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Oberlin Invitational on Sunday (Sept. 22), picking up 10 more match wins on Day 2.

In doubles play, sophomore Tche Kun Teng and freshman Hung Huynh won two matches. They won their first match, 8-3, and the second, 8-5. 

Also earning a doubles win was all-freshman duo Jacob Hoffman and Noah Brown, who won their match, 8-6. Sophomores Stuart Brdicka and Colten Clark eked out an 8-6 win, as well.

Ashland had more success in singles play. Hunyh won a tough three-setter. He had the advantage taking the first set, 6-4. Hunyh then dropped the second set, 6-0, and came back to win the match on the third set, 10-7. Huynh also won a match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. 

Sophomore Chase Williams won his singles match in two long sets, 7-6, 7-5. Sophomore Jordan Phelps won his match by a wider margin, 6-1, 6-4. Tche, who picked up two doubles wins, also won his singles match in just two sets, 6-1, 6-3. Clark was the final win on the day for Ashland. He won his match in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 10-1. 

The Eagles will play next on Saturday (Sept. 28) in Grand Rapids, Mich., at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association regionals.
