Soni, Brdicka, Clark Ranked Regionally

Three of Ashland University's men's tennis players were ranked in the first regional rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday (Nov. 13) night.

Senior Priyank Soni was tabbed the No. 10 singles player in the Midwest region, while sophomore Stuart Brdicka was placed just below him, at No. 12.

Sophomore Colten Clark and Brdicka were chosen as the No. 6 doubles team in the Midwest region.

Soni was a dominant force at No. 1 singles for Ashland last spring, posting a 14-4 record and earning first-team honors from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. He was also twice named GLIAC Player of the Week. This fall, Soni wrapped up a successful preseason campaign with a win at Ashland's Spreng-Smith Invitational.

Brdicka was another strong spot for the Eagles in the singles rundown. He was 20-6 for Ashland last spring, and was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year, along with second-team honors. Brdicka's fall was highlighted by a 2-0 start at ITA Regionals on Sept. 28.

As a duo, Brdicka and Clark were very strong during fall competition. Their fall season was highlighted by an 8-4 result over Southwest Baptist's at-the-time No. 5-ranked doubles duo, Adham Gaber and Alvaro Nunez Serrano. They now sit No. 8 in the region, as Clark and Brdicka have moved to No. 6.
