Ashland University senior pitcher Emlyn Knerem (Brusnwick, Ohio) has been named a third team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The team was announced today (May 16).

This team was selected by coaches from around the country.  Knerem was a first team NFCA Midwest Region selection.  She was the 2012 GLIAC pitcher of the year and is on the Daktronics All-America ballot.

Knerem went 29-7 this year with a 1.60 ERA.  She had 289 strikeouts in 231.2 innings.  The senior led the GLIAC in wins and strikeouts. That win total is a school, single-season record. Knerem ended her career with the most wins in program history and is second in career strikeouts.

Ashland advanced to the NCAA playoffs this year. This was AU's fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason.
