Gulas Honored For 800 Wins

Ashland University softball coach Sheilah Gulas was honored as one of the new members of the 800 Win Club this week in San Antonio, Texas. Gulas was presented the award at the annual convention of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Gulas has a career record of 801-413. She won her 800th game last spring against Wayne State in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament in Indianapolis. Gulas has guided AU to five consecutive NCAA playoff berths. In her Ashland career she has led the Eagles to the NCAA playoffs 10 times. Under Gulas the Eagles have won 40 or more games five times, had 10 years of 30 or more wins, won five GLIAC regular season titles and captured the GLIAC Tournament championship three times.

Gulas is in her 18th year at AU. At Ashland, her record is 598-289. She is the program's career leader in victories.

Prior to arriving at Ashland, Gulas was the head coach at Allegheny and Wittenberg. The upcoming season will be her 28th as a college head coach.
