The Ashland University softball team has been picked to finish third in the 2014 GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Eagles received two first place votes and a total of 147 points. The league coaches selected Grand Valley State as the favorite to win the title. The Lakers received six first place votes and 159 points. Wayne State is second with 156 points. The Warriors received six first place votes.
The Eagles were 29-20 a year ago and advanced to the NCAA playoffs for the fifth consecutive season. Ashland is 2-0 this season. Last weekend, the Eagles swept a doubleheader at Bellarmine. AU leaves for its annual spring trip to Florida on Saturday (Mar. 1).
