The Ashland University softball team is headed to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the sixth consecutive season. The Eagles are the seventh seed in the Midwest Region and will play at Wayne State in Detroit. The tournament runs Friday-Sunday, May 9-11. The NCAA made the announcement this morning.

AU will play Wayne State, the region's second seed, in the first round at 2 p.m., on Friday. The other game to be played in Detroit has third-seeded Indianapolis meeting the sixth seed, Grand Valley State.

The other side of the Midwest bracket has the top seed, Missouri-St. Louis, hosting the eighth seed, Bellarmine. Truman State, the fourth seed, will tangle with Ohio Dominican, the fifth seed. Those games will be held at Missouri-St. Louis.

Both of this weekend's tournaments are double elimination. The winners from these sub-regionals will clash the following week in a best two-out-of-three series.

Ashland is 27-18 and Wayne State is 41-9. The Warriors won the GLIAC championship last weekend. WSU is 3-0 against the Eagles this season.
