Ashland University's softball team resumed its Florida schedule on Thursday (March 5), winning a walk-off 7-6 decision against Mary and a 4-0 count against Post to improve to 7-1.

The win against Mary came courtesy of a two-out solo home run from junior Kayla Prokopakis in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ashland had leads of 5-0 after two innings and 6-1 after three, but Mary rallied to tie the game at 6 after 5½, setting up Prokopakis' heroics.

Both Prokopakis (double, home run) and junior Bri Buckley (single, home run) had two of the Eagles' nine hits. Senior Taylor Menhart drove in three runs and hit a homer.

Senior Amber McDermott pitched two hitless innings of relief to earn the victory.

Against Post, Menhart was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a double. Seniors McKenna Galloway (five innings, two hits, two walks, four strikeouts) and Sarah Alley (two innings, one hit, one walk, two strikeouts) combined for the shutout in the pitcher's circle.

The Eagles will continue play in Clermont on Friday (March 6) against Saint Anselm at 9 a.m. and Assumption at 11 a.m.
