Three Ashland University softball players have earned first-team conference honors, as the 2015 All-GLIAC Softball Teams and Postseason Awards were released on Friday (May 1).
- Junior first baseman Jen Moore had a breakout regular season for the Eagles, hitting .402 with 29 runs scored, nine doubles, a triple, 10 home runs, 40 RBIs and a .712 slugging percentage. Her home run total leads the conference.
- Senior center fielder Taylor Menhart has been among the top players in the country this spring, and finished the regular season hitting .441 with 44 runs scored, 16 doubles, seven triples, seven home runs, 41 RBIs, a .527 on-base percentage and an .816 slugging percentage. She leads the GLIAC in runs scored, doubles, triples, RBIs and slugging.
- Junior pitcher Sarah Alley goes into the GLIAC Tournament at 12-0 with a 1.39 earned run average and 72 strikeouts in 80 2/3 innings. She paces the conference in winning percentage, and is second in ERA.
Junior third baseman Bri Buckley and sophomore second baseman Kalene Freshour each earned All-GLIAC honorable mention. During the regular season, Buckley hit .317 with 29 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples, three home runs and 19 RBIs, while Freshour was a.362 hitter with 26 runs scored, two doubles, a triple, 19 RBIs and a team-high 11 stolen bases.
The 2015 GLIAC special award winners were Lake Superior State senior Amanda Maxon (Player of the Year), Ohio Dominican's Taylor Kline (Freshman of the Year), Wayne State sophomore Lyndsay Butler (Pitcher of the Year) and Wayne State's Gary Bryce (Coach of the Year).
